It was a grand reunion of Dengram Class 91, Lagos on the 10th and 11th of December 2016. A school we are very proud to be identified with, Dennis Memorial Grammar School (Dengram), Onitsha, featured here, remains an Institution of repute and a testimony of the impact of the Church in our society. The prestigious School, was founded in 1925 by the Diocese on the Niger, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) and has maintained a tradition of excellence and played a vital role in moulding generations of leaders in the Country.
The reunion kicked off with a visit to the Hearts of Gold, Children Hospice, Masha, Surulere, Lagos to offer some relief to the children. It was a momentous visit and has set in motion something big, as we intend to sustain the initiative and give back yearly to children in need of help.
The celebrations moved to Archbishop Vining Memomorial Church Cathedral, Ikeja, Lagos, on Sunday. We had a special thanksgiving service at the Cathedral, to offer praises to God for His mercies towards our members and families. It was a glorious service and we marched to the alter to the sound of our school song; “Thou whose almighty word”, with many other old boys identifying with us. We were also afforded the privilege to sing our school anthem; “Dengram we sing to you”, right in the Cathedral before kneeling down to be prayed for by the Priests and giving our thanksgiving offerings to God.
From the Church service, we proceeded to Amuwo Odofin with our families to give ourselves a treat and bond together. It was indeed a grand reunion and we found reason to thank God who has kept us all these years. We left the event committed to sustaining the Dengram tradition and “showing the light” in our various constituencies.
