As we prepare for the 2023 Governorship and State Assembly Elections, the beautiful State of Abia is on my mind. I had written here in 2015 of Alex Ottih and his capacity to buck the trend in Abia, a State that has been quite unfortunate with the Leaders that has been foisted on them since the 4th Republic. He didn’t succeed in 2015 under APGA but it seems at this opportuned time, that the kronos and the kairos have come together for him, as he contests under the auspices of the giant-killing; Labour Party.
The Labour Party, having disrupted the political order with their showing in the recently concluded Presidential Elections are poised to further decimate the ruling; All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition; People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the up coming Elections. Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party and his Obidient movement strongly energised the youth and provided an option for the dissatisfied populace.
The showing of the Labour Party in the Presidential Elections indeed sent chills down the spine of many politicians, especially in the South East where they are tipped to win many more seats. For a movement that started barely 8 months ago to grab 12 States in an election where they were believed to have been systematically rigged out, the dynamics has indeed shifted for subsequent elections.

Abia State is one of such States, where the Labour Party is expected to have a strong showing. The momentum the party created in the Presidential Elections and the undoubted pedigree of Dr. Alex Ottih, the Labour Party Candidate, has set up a combustible energy that cannot be easily extinguished.
Dr. Alex Ottih is a 1988 graduate of the University of Port Harcourt where he finished with a first class honours degree in Economics. He equally has an MBA from the University of Lagos (1994) as well as honourary doctorate degrees from Babcock University (2009) and the University of Port Harcourt (2012) and University of Nigeria (2013). He had a glowing banking career culminating in his role as the MD/CEO of Diamond Bank, where he achieved enviable landmarks and left the bank in 2014 as one of the eight systematically important banks in Nigeria.
The then Chairman of the bank; Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe (Obi of Onitsha), described his tenure as “the brightest years of Diamond Bank’s 24-year history”. His sojourn into politics has offered some ray of hope for the people of Abia and there’s no doubt that the testimony of his leadership, if he gets the nod, will be as glowing as that given above by the highly revered Obi of Onitsha.

As the next Election date approaches, Mr. Peter Obi has urged his followers to continue with their campaigns and “…troop out on Saturday 11th March 2023 to vote massively again for Labour Party-LP (Mama, Papa and Pikin) in the Governorship and State Assembly Elections.” Obidients listened attentively and heard him in Abia and all across the Country. As expected, they will come out to vote and as in the Presidential Elections, will totally demystify the old guard, who have held the Nation hostage for years.
Dr. Alex Ottih is poised to put finishing touches to his impressive campaign and with the omens aligned in his favour, go out there and hit a home run.
Indeed for Abia State, the time is now!

In deed the Kronos and the kairos are set for him.
And he has also aligned him self with the right party.
I really commend his tenacity and persistence.
I wish him all the best.
Abiaians will have a breath of fresh air. In deed the Kronos and the kairos are set for him.
