He Propels You To Action – Pastor Chris
Sunday, July 9, 2017
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure (Philippians 2:13).
How beautiful this is! The Lord causes us to be willing, and then propels us to do His will. The God that works in you is the Holy Spirit; He’s the One here with us and He lives in you. Part of His ministry in your life is to propel you to do the things that are pleasing to the Father; meaning that you don’t have to struggle anymore to know or walk in the Father’s perfect will.
Now, that doesn’t suggest what some people have erroneously believed. They’d say, “If God is going to make me do of His good pleasure, then I’ll do it; if He doesn’t make me do it, then it means it was never His will for me in the first place; so, I’ll just wait until He makes me do it.” That’s not what we read in Philippians 2:13. What the Spirit teaches through Paul the Apostle is our cooperation with the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit carries out His ministry in our lives. He’s got a job to do, and that job is in you. The Holy Spirit is called to work in you, but you have to let Him do His job by fellowshipping with Him. The more you have fellowship with Him, the more He carries out His ministry in your life. Fellowshipping with Him makes you willing, so you’d never have any problem doing His will; you’ll always, and at all times, be ready to do His will, because in fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit, He can prompt you.
No wonder the prophet Ezekiel said, “And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me” (Ezekiel 2:2). The Holy Spirit can cause you to get up and do or say something, and you’ll be aware. He doesn’t just move you like a robot, no; there’s a consciousness. You’re aware that He’s the one at work in you, propelling you to action. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit that you’ve given me. He’s the One who guides me in excellence. Your wisdom in me is the force that causes me to flourish, excel and be victorious in all things. Through fellowship with you, I’ve become sensitive to your voice, and yielding to your promptings within me. Your blessed works, plans and purposes are accomplished in, and through me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
