Deep in the dark

Deep in the dark

The night far spent

Dawn breaking stealthily

Terror lurking desperately

The unsuspecting sleeps

Oblivious of the danger

Driven by envy and hate

Aiming to inflict pain

Then time stands still

Flashing daggers recklessly

Terror hopes to intimidate

Yet fear seizes his heart

As my sleepy eyes light up

In wonder rather than fear

At the stupidity on display

Faith wells up from within

I am more than a conqueror

No weapon can prevail

No force can overrun

I declare, just as a King

Terror is held spellbound

Never imagined such boldness

A response totally unnerving

Has sent his mission spiraling

The words slashing like a sword

Has rendered him defenceless

He was programmed to flee

At such a firm resistance

The weapons dropped in haste

Ugly litters on that gory scene

Even deep in the dark

Faith’s steel held sway

…Inspired by events narrated here, that unfolded in an armed robbery attack in 2007
